President's Message

by Kurt Driscoll, CCP

I would like to congratulate Shawn Mergen and Gail Kedzierski on a job well done. The facilities and organization of our 8th Annual Spring Educational Meeting were great. All sessions from the “Fireside Chats” on Friday evening to the Sunday morning sessions were well attended. The attendance at our business meeting was excellent, with lots of good discussion on our ongoing pursuit of state licensure and the budget. Randy Amacci treasures report gave us much to think about, as far as budgeting our moneys for the next couple of years. The discussion that followed went from looking at our meeting costs and determining if a raise in Class C members is in order, and if so how much.  In addition, should we be looking at limiting the locations of our annual meetings.

The legislative update by Mike Gough generated a lot of discussion. The progress so far is good but we still need everyone’s support. So if you haven’t contacted your legislators please do its not to late. Mike and Matt Hietpas have put a lot of work into our web page to keep it up to date for us and everything you need to know is there. They have form letters that you can use to write your legislators to getting their phone number if you wish to call them.

The 2002 Spring Meeting will be in Madison, Randy Amacci is the program Director. This next year will prove to be interesting and hopefully successful. With the help of all our members I know that no matter what happens WPS will continue to accomplish our goals.
