Some things were discussed at the Board Meeting
of September 23rd which I
feel should be brought up. As was previously voted upon, the dues for
WPS
membership is going to be increased to $200.00 next year. These dues
must
be paid in full by the deadline date in order to receive membership
benefits. We are also seeking members for the Education Committee.
Anyone
interested in helping out may contact me or anyone else on the WPS
Board.
Mike Gough and the rest of his task force have been working tirelessly
in
preparation for our upcoming efforts at state licensure. I hope that
everyone has had a chance to read the update in the last issue of the
newsletter. All of the membership should also have received an
information
packet from the committee about the background of the legislature as
well
as information regarding your specific representatives. If you didn't
receive it, just let Mike know and he will be happy to get that out to
you.
This may also be a good time to post the question on whether or not a
hard
copy of the newsletter should be mailed out to each open-heart program
in
the state as it is published. Recognizing that the website is still a
good
way to communicate information to the membership body, this should
ensure
that no one is left out of the information process and would amount to
little additional expense. This will be on the Board Meeting agenda in
December, so any feelings one way or the other should be communicate
d to either myself or any other Board or Committee member.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Terry and Suzanne for the
great job that they did in organizing our WPS Golf Outing. I know that
everybody that participated had a great time. This also turned out to be
a
great way to raise money for the Legislative Fund. Hopefully we can make
this an annual event.
