Essay Scholarships
As part of its mission, the WPS established opportunities for perfusion students via an essay writing competition. These scholarships are open to any non-employed perfusion student enrolled in an accredited perfusion program within the United States. All scholarships are financed by the pairing of private and corporate donations and are awarded at the Annual Education Meeting. By combining the generous donations of perfusionists and supporting corporations, the WPS has awarded over $34,000 in scholarships to date.
It is with great pleasure that the Wisconsin Perfusion Society announces the winner of its 2026 Scholarship Essay Contest.
Please join in congratulating the 2026 award recipients and thanking the scholarship sponsors:
Annabelle Hoth - Milwaukee School of Engineering
Major Sponsor: Ronald Nichols - CCP Emeritus
Donations to the scholarship fund were also generously provided by many attendees upon conference registration.
We sincerely thank you all for your support of Perfusion Education and our Student Scholarship Program!
Tony Taraskiewicz Memorial Scholarship
On March 24, 2007 John Anthony Taraskiewicz died in an automobile accident that left his friends, family, and co-workers in shock.
Over the following year, members of the WPS, both active and retired, formed the "Taraskiewicz Memorial Achievement Award Committee". This Committee felt that Tony's memory would be best honored by recognizing an outstanding achievement by a student for either service, concept, or methodology in the field of perfusion.
At one point in Tony's career as a perfusionist he served as a Clinical Instructor in the Master's Program at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was able to bring a different prospective in perfusion to his students and will be remembered fondly for that by them.
It is with great pleasure that the Wisconsin Perfusion Society announces the winner of its 2026 Tony Taraskiewicz Memorial Scholarship.
Please join in congratulating the 2026 award recipients:
